from BriSCA V8 Writer Pete Savage!
The stakes are high as the Brisca V8 Hotstox compete for the Incarace Gold Cup on the fast Hednesford Hills oval at our Solutions 4 Polmyers sponsored meeting on Sunday August 16th! Thomas Brighton (#329) is the current holder and is in great form in 2026, will anybody be able to stop the current World and Incarace Gold Cup champion from regaining the Gold Cup?
The Hotstox last appeared at Hednesford in May. Prior to the meeting there was some excitement in the pits over the arrival of World Champion Thomas Brighton’s new tarmac car. Heat 1 was won by the returning Brad Stirk (#165). Stirk caught the early leader Rich Masterson (#103) and dealt decisively with his fellow yellow grader before pulling away from the rest of the pack. Heat 2 saw a first ever heat win for Will Cheetham (#182) in a meeting that would go on to be arguably his career best. Will took advantage of an error by leader Brad Stirk (#165) and went on to take the win. With confidence high, Cheetham charged towards the front of the meeting final and took the lead. In the closing stages Camey Dorrell (#262) was clearly gaining and launched a huge last bend attack. Cheetham managed to hold on and take his first final victory. After narrowly missing out on victory in the meeting final, Camey Dorrell (#262) made sure she was not to be denied again and took victory in the Grand National. Thomas Brighton steered his brand new car to a fine second place.
Will Cheetham will be in attendance and hoping to replicate his fine performance from the meeting in May. Will is a third generation stock car driver. Grandad Mike raced in both the V8 Hotstox and Brisca Formula 1 stock cars while father Dave also competed in the Hotstox. Will however, is the first member of the Cheetham family to win a meeting final. There will be plenty of fast competition for Will to deal with including rival Camey Dorrell (#262) who came so close to winning the last final at Hednesford. Brothers Stephen (#176) and Matthew (#376) Young are both race winners on tarmac in the Hotstox formula and will be hoping for a successful day on the Hednesford oval. Towards the front of the grid will be Charlie Portman (#528) who enjoyed a fine win at Taunton in July and has every chance of doing the same at the unique Hednesford Hills Raceway on August 16th. The venue always produces excellent action and the Solutions 4 Polmyers sponsored meeting on August 16th is certain to be fast and furious!
